Two days is far too short for Hanoi, yet enough to take home the richest memories of this thousand-year-old city. Here is the 48-hour itinerary our front-desk teams quietly share with first-time guests - every stop within walking distance of our properties.

Day 1: The rhythm around Hoan Kiem Lake

Start early with an egg coffee - Hanoi’s signature drink, hard to find done properly anywhere else. From our Ngo Huyen property it is a few steps to the café street around St. Joseph’s Cathedral. Then take a slow lap of Hoan Kiem Lake while mist still sits on the water, crossing the scarlet The Huc bridge to Ngoc Son Temple.

Give the afternoon to the 36 streets: Hang Bac and its century-old silversmiths, Hang Ma glowing with decorations, Hang Gai for silk. Don’t rush - the Old Quarter is at its best when you walk slowly and let the streets lead.

As evening falls, Ta Hien lights up. A glass of fresh draught beer on a pavement stool, a few Hanoian snacks, and the passing crowd - that is how locals end a day.

Day 2: Markets, the bridge and the must-eat list

On your second morning, visit Dong Xuan Market - Hanoi’s oldest, a 10-minute walk from our Fortune Grand property on Hoe Nhai. Continue to Long Bien Bridge, the city’s hundred-year witness, with the best early-morning view over the Red River.

The eating list for your final day: beef pho for breakfast, bun cha for lunch and, if you still have room, cha ca for dinner. Gifts to take home? Young green rice, candied fruit from Hang Duong street and a packet of lotus tea.

Front-desk tip: the Old Quarter is loveliest before 7 am - when stalls are just opening and the streets still belong to Hanoians.
